Primary Use: To automatically synchronize one generator set with another running generator set or with the mains power grid, and to manage load sharing after connection.

2. Key Features
- 
Single-Channel Design: Focused on controlling the synchronization process of one generator to a single common busbar (mains or another generator). 
- 
Automatic Synchronization: Automatically detects voltage, frequency, and phase difference, and sends correction signals to the generator’s governor (controls frequency) and AVR (controls voltage) to meet the closing conditions. 
- 
Precise Closing: Calculates and predicts the optimal closing moment, issuing a “close breaker” command just before the phase angle difference reaches zero, ensuring a smooth and shock-free connection. 
- 
Load Sharing (Optional): After parallel operation, it can communicate with other generator controllers via an additional load-sharing module to achieve proportional active power distribution. 
- 
Integrated Protection: Features built-in sync-check protection to prevent breaker closure if conditions are not met, ensuring system safety.

3. How It Works (Briefly)
The SCM-1 continuously compares the signals from two power sources:
- 
Voltage: Compares the voltage of the incoming generator and the busbar. If the difference is too large, it sends a signal to the generator’s Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) to adjust the voltage. 
- 
Frequency & Phase: Compares the frequency and phase. It sends signals to the engine governor to fine-tune the engine speed, bringing the incoming generator’s frequency slightly above the busbar frequency (creating a “fast” condition). 
- 
Calculate Advance: Once the voltage and frequency differences are within permissible limits, it calculates the time required for the breaker to close. It issues the close command at the precise moment before the phase angle is zero, so the breaker’s main contacts close when the phase angle difference is actually zero.

Power Plants with Multiple Generator Sets: Used for synchronizing a new generator to already running sets.

Standby Power Systems: When the main power fails, multiple standby generators need to start quickly and synchronize in parallel to pick up the load.

Marine Power Systems: Onboard ships where multiple main generators or shaft generators need to operate in parallel for efficiency and redundancy.

Mains Parallel Operation: In some applications, it can be used to synchronize a generator with the utility grid (ensuring compliance with grid codes is necessary).
