Is this module a field I/O block? No. It is a communication link converter — it extends and isolates control network signals over fiber, and does not directly switch sensors or actuators.
How far can a fiber link run? Using multimode ST fiber, the link is intended for cabinet-to-cabinet or station-to-station distances far beyond copper RS-485 limits, with full electrical isolation between ends.
What if the RX indicator stays dark? Check fiber polarity (TX must go to RX), clean the end faces, and verify cable continuity between the two ends.
